An Entrepreneurial look at Macron’s 2017 Presidential Win
Emmanuel Macron in September 2018 had recorded the lowest approval ratings ever for a French President. However, not too long ago he went from being a young talented fairly unknown junior minister in the French Government to the President of France in just over a year. At the age of 39 he was the youngest ever head of state since Napoleon. Considering Macron’s party En Marche! has only been in existence for 13 months it arguably surpasses political shocks of Brexit and Trump’s election.
He defied all rules. He gained nearly as many votes as both Socialists and Republicans. His campaign had seemed to be chaotic and low cost with his headquarters full of young people that looked like a start-up rather than a usual political set-up.
Whatever your personal views on Macron’s leadership, it is evident that he used skills and behaviours that entrepreneurs should study and learn from.
1. Brand
Any aspiring leader should look towards the manner in which Macron built his personal brand. Creating a strong brand isn’t as difficult as it once was largely due to social media. However, it is important to build your résumé and that you present your ideas in a well-constructed manner whilst displaying that you’re an open-minded person.
